Israeli Cabinet Approves Major Gaza Operation to Free Hostages and Crush Hamas

In a decisive move, the Israeli security cabinet has unanimously approved a significant expansion of military operations in Gaza. This escalation is aimed at intensifying pressure on Hamas and securing the release of hostages believed to be held by the militant group. The strategy reflects Israel’s commitment to dismantling Hamas’s military infrastructure while also responding to growing public and political pressure to bring hostages home safely.

As part of the expanded campaign, tens of thousands of Israeli reservists have been mobilized to bolster ground forces and maintain operational readiness across multiple fronts. The expanded offensive is expected to involve increased airstrikes, ground incursions into key areas of Gaza, and targeted operations aimed at high-ranking Hamas leaders and underground tunnel networks used for logistics and movement.

Israeli officials have framed this move as a necessary escalation following what they describe as continued rocket attacks and intransigence by Hamas during indirect negotiations. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated that the military would “act with full force” to restore security and ensure that Hamas cannot regroup or maintain control of the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, humanitarian concerns have intensified, with international organizations warning of worsening conditions for civilians in Gaza. The Israeli government has said it will work to facilitate humanitarian corridors and coordinate with partners to mitigate harm to non-combatants, though access to aid remains a critical challenge.

The situation remains fluid, with military and diplomatic developments unfolding rapidly.
