Kerch Bridge Strike: Undermining a Symbol and Supply Line
Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) claimed responsibility for a significant attack on the Kerch Bridge, which connects mainland Russia to the annexed Crimean Peninsula. Utilizing approximately 1,100 kilograms of underwater explosives, the operation targeted the bridge's support pillars, causing substantial damage and temporarily halting traffic.
The Kerch Bridge, inaugurated by President Vladimir Putin in 2018, serves as a vital supply route for Russian military operations in southern Ukraine and stands as a potent symbol of Russia's claim over Crimea . This attack marks the third time Ukraine has targeted the bridge since the onset of the conflict in 2022, underscoring its strategic importance and Ukraine's determination to challenge Russian control over the region.
