Over 480 Civilians Killed in Darfur as Clashes Escalate Between Sudanese Army and RSF

Over the past two weeks, intense fighting between Sudan's army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has resulted in the deaths of more than 480 civilians in North Darfur. The violence, concentrated around the regional capital El Fasher, has seen heavy shelling of residential neighborhoods, looting, and indiscriminate attacks that have devastated local communities. Humanitarian organizations have warned of a looming catastrophe as medical facilities struggle to cope with the influx of wounded, many of whom are women and children. Tens of thousands have been displaced, and access to food, clean water, and medical aid remains severely limited due to the ongoing insecurity. This latest surge in violence underscores the continued fragility of Sudan’s political situation and the alarming toll the conflict is taking on innocent civilians.
