Sudan’s Humanitarian Catastrophe Deepens Amid Continued Conflict
Sudan is mired in what analysts are calling one of the world’s worst humanitarian disasters. More than 150,000 have died in the civil war between the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the military, over 12 million are internally displaced, and up to 17 million children are out of school. In Darfur’s El Fasher, aid has not reached populations in over a year, resulting in recent starvation deaths. International actors—including Egypt, Turkey, Russia, and the UAE—are implicated in the conflict, while critics say the global response reflects a collapse of the post-World War II liberal order.
