UN Warns of Imminent Full-Scale War in Middle East, Urges Immediate De-escalation

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has issued a strong appeal for de-escalation in the Middle East, warning that the region stands on the precipice of a full-scale conflict. Speaking from UN Headquarters, Guterres expressed grave concern over the rapidly deteriorating security situation and urged all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint.

"The Middle East is on the brink," Guterres stated. "One miscalculation, one misstep, could ignite a regional conflict with devastating consequences—not only for the countries directly involved, but for global peace and security."

He called on all stakeholders to prioritize diplomacy over confrontation and to uphold international law. Guterres emphasized the urgent need to avoid further provocations or retaliatory actions, which could spiral into uncontrollable violence. "Now is the time to defuse tensions. Civilians are already paying too high a price, and further escalation could lead to catastrophic humanitarian consequences."

The Secretary-General also reiterated the United Nations' readiness to support dialogue and mediation efforts aimed at resolving the underlying disputes. He urged influential regional and international actors to use their leverage to calm the situation and promote peace.

His remarks come as the international community closely monitors the unfolding developments, with many nations echoing the call for calm and restraint.
