U.S. Envoy Steve Witkoff and Ambassador Huckabee Visit Gaza Aid Site Amid New Relief Talks
U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Ambassador Mike Huckabee made a high-profile visit to a humanitarian distribution site in Rafah, Gaza, as diplomatic efforts intensify to finalize a new international aid plan for the region.
The visit, which took place under heavy security, underscores Washington's renewed commitment to addressing the deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The distribution center, managed in coordination with international NGOs, is one of the largest active aid hubs in southern Gaza and currently supports tens of thousands of displaced residents.
Witkoff and Huckabee met with aid workers, inspected food and medical supplies, and reaffirmed the U.S. push for uninterrupted aid flows amid ongoing ceasefire negotiations. “We are here to ensure critical assistance reaches civilians without delay,” Witkoff stated.
The visit comes as talks continue between the U.S., Egypt, Israel, and other stakeholders over a revamped aid corridor system and monitoring mechanisms to prevent diversion of supplies. Humanitarian organizations have welcomed the engagement but stress that urgent improvements in access and security are still needed.
